Founded in Paris in 1970, Takada Kenzo surprised the world of fashion with his originality and the apparent celebration of diverse cultures, nature and colours in his designs. Kenzo's signature is mixing references to create an urban and contemporary style where the colours, details and prints melt into one another; a style that twists and reinterprets the classic codes of men and women's wardrobe.
Kenzo Spring/Summer 2016 collection follows the global traveller as she confidently collects an unexpected mix of elements. Swimwear are always on hand as she might find a place to stop for a dip en route to her next destination. Silhouette is clashed and layered and length are shrunken with proportions to match. Short hemlines appear on lyrical skirts and dresses. Volumes are set with irregular godets while trousers are relaxed with ease in wide and tapered versions.
As for the men's collection, we think of the man who makes these roving forays across uncharted lands. We imagine his strong, experienced, utilitarian and purposeful silhouette. Practicality and resourcefulness is highly considered in the collection. the silhouette is boxy, easy and loose, Breathable fabrics make for more comfortable movement.
